Christmas Time 2006

Well, Christmas is upon us so we hired a car and drove to MacKay to share Christmas with very old (as in long time) friends of Di’s – Bernie and Peter. We had a 21st celebration there as well as it was more than 21 years since I had had Christmas with them – at that time their children were about 3 and 5, they are now in their 20’s!!!!!

We arrived to a house full of presents – the tree was loaded and you should have seen the children’s eyes bulging … they were in heaven. Not to mention Bernie and Peter have a huge spa pool which they spent many an hour in. AND the best part of all ... there were other children to play with!!!!! We stayed in a pop top camper, very nearly new and spacious and so comfortable - it was like a little home on wheels. Bernie was worried we would feel cramped - (she hadn't seen Sunburn yet) - jumped on board and the first thing the kids said "this is so much bigger than our cabin."

Christmas Eve was the big night with some 20 odd people coming over for Christmas dinner. It was beautiful, the food was delicious, the decorations amazing and it was an all round fantastic time. Needless to say the next day (Christmas day) was spent recovering - most of it in the spa with a glass bubbles in my hand! There were so many of us there for Christmas morning that it took over 2 hours to open all the presents – and Santa had been very good to us all! It was an awesome time for us as Christmas with JUST the murphys would have been a somewhat quiet affair. We are very lucky to have such great friends over here as it will probably be the last christmas like that for us for some time! Depending on our plans of course, which, seem to change quite regularly, usually at the last minute!
