It’s a hard life, but hey we are willing to do it! Here we are, at the Admiral Marina, enjoying every part of it! We thought Sebana Cove was lovely, well, this place is even more remarkable. The pool and bar just wonderful – actually the marina itself is pretty good too!
We had a great trip here, left Sebana Cove on Sunday and motored down 6 miles down the river to start bright and early the big trip through ALL the big ship anchorages around Singapore. Upped anchor in the dark, not a good move in hindsight in that all the lights from all the ships, not to mention Singapore made it difficult to ascertain our exact path! However we arrived at the anchorages where these amazing big ships anchored at daylight so that made things a little easier. All in all it took us 7 hours to get through these anchorages and we wouldn’t have missed it for anything. It was INCREDIBLE, never ever have we seen ships this big before, some anchored, some anchoring, some leaving, some arriving and some just magically sitting in one spot without any anchor down at all. However, it took both Brendan and I, constantly keeping watch together for 7 hours straight some of the ships moving were hidden behind bigger ships that were stationery. THEN to add to this you get the supply ships, these are the fuel boats (I think) that go around and fuel up these big ships, oh and then there are the tugs towing barges, and all the little fishing boats scooting in and out too! It was simply incredible, but knackering!
We finally left the big ship anchorages just in time to see a storm looming over Singapore, it looked like we were going to miss it as it was behind us… how wrong can you be..hmm…very wrong – it got us, and boy did it get us! Lightening all around – couple of big cracks overhead JUST as I was about to stand up and try to look out – visibility was down to a few metres – thank fully we have radar! Anyway, it was over and dusted in a couple of hours and we made it to anchor at Pulau Pisang – a lovely little island that gave great shelter!
We upped anchor the next day and did a short hop to a bay where all sorts of weird currents were happening. We anchored and were swinging 360 deg one way, then a complete circle the other way – it was weird. There were 3 of us anchored there and we were all facing different directions most of the night! Next day we left early and made it to the Water Islands, just off Melaka, pretty place, but just stopped overnight and then hightailed it to Port Dickson…where we are now. We are staying here for Christmas as they are having a huge Christmas party with santa for the kids and then will leave a day or two later. So with that in mind we wish you all a very Merry Christmas everyone!
