Ahhhh... after bashing for 3 1/2 hours into 30+ knot headwinds to travel a whole 6 miles we have reached paradise! We are anchored in a magical bay on the north western tip of Lombok Island, in a bay called Teluk Sirah, with 4 other yachts, bliss. There is a fancy fancy FANCY resort on the point called The Oberoi, a bit too ritzy for us yachties however we had to go and check it out! This is PART of the pool (an infinity pool no less)!
However, an even bigger secret, tucked away up off the beach, behind the trees, through the paddocks, up a rocky path and you find a hidden oasis...The Medana Resort. An absolutely magical spot that has the X-factor. The owners Steve and Resty went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and loved having all the kids playing in the pool. I could live there, it is probably one of the nicest places I have ever been too. A boutique resort with 6 chalets, all hidden for privacy, in the midst of beautiful landscaped grounds. Enough, you say... I am sure the following photos will speak for themselves!
Needless to say, we spent 8 days there ... and the time flew. It was very hard to leave, could have stayed forever! We travelled about an hour away and bought the kids 2nd hand surf boards, they have a blast with them, although they havent actually come across any surf to practice on! On one of these little Lombok adventures we came back to the bay to discover the word was out! Our oasis had been discovered ... there were now over 30 yachts anchored in our lovely, secret, little bay!

We were hoping to get to the Gilli Isles, Good Hope took us and Blue Sky over for a day trip to Gilli Air. The wind was howling and the current strong, but as you can see - it wasnt a bad spot to hang out! The kids had a great time playing on the surf boards, and the grown ups...well we had a hard time, kicking back and sipping a few cold ones!
Of course, all in the name of parental supervision! Sadly, the day was coming to an end and we had to leave...back to our little oasis! Its a hard life...but someones' got to do it! (For more photos click here)
